National Assembly approved Shaikh Sabah as a new Amir of the State of Kuwait



Kuwaiti National Assembly unanimously approved Prime Minister Shaikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as a new Amir of the State of Kuwait on January 29th. Shaikh Sabah took the oath at the parliament on the same day. After the death of Amir Shaikh Jaber, Crown Prince Shaikh Saad was appointed to the new Amir, however, because of his health condition, National Assembly decided the abdication of Shaikh Saad on 24th.

H.H. Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah
- Born in kuwait on June 6th 1929

- Educated in the schools of Kuwait

- Completed his studies with private tutors

- Member of the Building and Construction council

- Member of the Organization body of the Higher Council

- Head of the Department of Press and Publications in 1955

- Appointed Minister of Guidance and Information on January 17th 1962

- Appointed Foreign Minister January 28th 1963 and continued in this post throughout all governments formed since independence until April 20th 1991

- Acting Minister of Information from February 2nd 1971 to February 3rd 1975 in addition to his post as Minister of Foreign Affairs

- Appointed Deputy Prime Minister on February 16th 1978 in addition to his post as Minister of Foreign Affairs

- Appointed Minister of information on February 9th 1982 in addition to his posts as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of foreign Affairs

- Relinquished his position as Minister of Information in 1985

- Appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs on March 3rd 1985

- Appointed as First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs on October 18th 1992

- Appointed Prime Minister by Amiri Decree on July 13th 2003

- Social Status :Widower, father of three sons and one daughter

- Languages: Arabic and English
