Government of Kuwait names two women to municipal council



The government of Kuwait named two women to join its municipal council for the first time in its history on June 5th. The government had just agreed to grant women full political rights last month. gThe six municipal members have been appointed and two of them are female.h Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah told state news agency, KUNA.

According to KUNA, the two women are Sheikha Fatima Al-Sabah, member of ruling family and an architect, and Fawziya Al-Bahar. The council is responsible for city planning and monitoring some public services.
