H.E. Mr. Al-Otaibi, Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Japan Visits Tokyo University of Foreign Studies: Enhancement of Academic Exchanges Encouraged

H.E. Mr. Abdul-Rahman Al-Otaibi, the Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Japan paid a visit to Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, one of the oldest national university established in 1856 and one of the most esteemed university specialized in the language and culture studies and the international and area studies. Mr. Mohammad Alothman, Third Secretary accompanied the Ambassador.

Dr. Hirotaka Tateishi, President of the University welcomed the Ambassador H.E. Mr. Al-Otaibi warmly and made a briefing on the history and current constitution of the university, comprising of two undergraduate schools, graduate school, and several research institutes and language centers.

Dr. Koji Miyazaki, Executive Director for Education, Research and International Strategies briefed the Ambassador on the current situation of the international student enrollment to the university. Then Dr. Hiroko Fujimori, Vice-Director of the Japanese Language Center for International Students briefed on the center, a department a the university as well as the largest institutions for Japanese language education in Japan established in 1970. Dr. Hiroyuki Aoyama, Professor specialized in the Middle Eastern studies provided a language assistance in Arabic.

Dr. Masato Iizuka, Professor of Islamic and the Middle Eastern studies and Dr. Aiko Nishikida, Assistant Professor of the Middle Eastern area studies briefed the Ambassador on the Research Institute for Languages and Cultures of Asia and Africa, attached to the university.

After the meeting, the Ambassador was guided to a building of the Japanese Language Center for International Students located in the campus by Dr. Hiroko Fujimori. H.E. Mr. Al-Otaibi attended a few classes and encouraged the international students most of whom started to learn the Japanese at the center that the language is a strong tool to understand the people and culture, and wished for bright success in the future.
